That guy is certainly skilled with the needle. Hopefully I can find someone that skilled for my next tattoo soon, once I have the final design ready...

Im after one soon as well, may get it in Amsterdam on my european tour, theres a big tatoo parlour in the centre,

I just dont know what i want, i want somthign to do with fast cars and racing them without any brand names or specific car shapes, for it to tie in with my rallying and drag racing would be good but i just dont know what,

I was goign to ask on here if anyone knew of any sites i could browse design ideas on,

Colors or black and white? If colors and if you are looking for some flames or something like that you'd better go color, and if that's what you want you might be looking for new school styles like these:

http://www.tattoodles.com/gallery/?gallery=7 (only the thumbs are free to view though, paysite)

You can find lots of nice full-screener on bmezine.com. Other than that there are lots and lots of sites with galleries of either flashes (this is usually just the drawing or an entire set of tattoos by one artist) or full pics (that is the tattoo already on skin). A lot of those are paysites, but going through 2 or 3 pages of google results should give a dozen sites that are free to the public...

I am just scouting around for mine, I can keep you posted on good sites as I find them.

One more thing... I'd think twice if I really wanted to do this in a place like 'dam far away from your home. Depending on the style of the tattoo it might take more than one session. There is for sure more than one session if there is a lot of complexity in the design, and it certainly needs a 2nd seesion of there are large areas to be filled (as in tribals) because the artist will not be able to get a clean evenly shaded area in one session.

find an artist to design you something or come up with the basic idea and send it to me, I'll design it free o'charge, (designed all my own ink 9 and counting) but there is nothing more sad IMHO then tattoo flash. If you ask most artists they'll tell you it's there bread and butter but they don't like it.
It something permanent part of you for life do you want something just "off the wall" that dozens of other people that have, whom have no meaning to you?

art no matter the canvas or medium should be original
again IMHO

Ha,my buddy got his G/F's named tattoed in letters of his nationality, well they broke up.. and the people at the shop spelled some.. but i wasn;t her name, by accident i fully suppose?

I am just going to wait til i have my kids in the future, have a portiat or the 1 2 or twenty of them over my heart and my wifes name at the bottom and done. Nothin fancy to the point, and persoanlized for me.

I want colour but not flames (cheesy) i want original but cool,

Fast cars, rallying and drag racing has been part of my life for so long i guess its here to stay but thats why i dont want specific brands or car shapes,

I realise the multi session thing but im not goign for anything massive for my first tatoo, somthing nicely sized and maybe on my arm (top) so my clothing hides it, its there for me mainly and not everyone else unless i choose to show it,

I was thinking some sort of cartoon style but i will have a look, thanks for the links P1ckf1sh,

Im not sure what flashing is but if you mean useing a generic design that everyone has then no thats not my style, im not an artist but am creative enough to make a design up in my head, im just after inspiration,

I want to get fast driving and speed in to it, somthing sliding sideways would be fun, hence why i thought cartoon style,

I also want somthing that will look good in 10 years time and not just a mass of dark green and black blurr,

I do want shading and not just solid colours and that site has given me some good ideas, somthing like a piston o some chequered flaggs or a speed demon over some checkerd flags etc, that sort of thing all appeal,

Its given me some food for thought for sure,

Im still non the wiser on what flashes are though unless its a colour picture made in a art program without actually being on skin,

Well, you'll be in for a second session nevertheless. It is just kind of hard to fill areas completely without missing out parts. This is due to the fact that the ink has to settle. The artists call these white spots holidays, and sa far as I know a second session is required almost on every design unless it is just very fine line art. I might be wrong there, but you should be prepared to see the guy in 'dam again on your way back home. Another issue is care, I'd think giving the proper care (carefully washing, etc.) is easier to do in the comfort of your home than on the road. Google for "tattoo aftercare", opinions and suggestion vary, but they will give you an idea of what minimal treatment is necessary.

I was thinking some sort of cartoon style but i will have a look, thanks for the links P1ckf1sh,

http://www.bullseyetattoos.com/ go to their new school section this might give you some more ideas. They have two designs called Hot Rod there as well :)
Also, http://www.tattoo-nightliner.de/topsites/ is a link collection from a nice studio in Berlin, I would suppose that most if not all of these links go to different collections that are not requiring payment so you'd prolly could waste a couple of hours going through those...

Im not sure what flashing is but if you mean useing a generic design that everyone has then no thats not my style, im not an artist but am creative enough to make a design up in my head, im just after inspiration,

That is what flashes are useful for.

I think this is not an issue anymore today, the quality (and biostability) of the inks is said to have improved very much. In Japan full-color images over the entire back are quite popular among certain people, and in a tattoo magazine I saw a pic of one that was said to be almost 20 years old and it looked really vivid. Ask the parlor what kind of color inks they use.

Thanks for that definatley food for thought,

The issue i have with going to my local one is that they are 20 miles away through heavy traffic and i dont think they are that good, and also the prices are ridiculous,

I know of someone who bought his own machine because it was so expensive and then simply let his mates practice on him with it lol hes got so many dodgy tats is funny hes a right mess,

Its somthign im goign to have to look into cause were coming back up through france and not holland so i guess your right, go local,
