Was thinking about buying this starting kit:
http://www.lockpickshop.com/p-Lock-Picking-Kit-2.html

Anyone know anything about this site? Good/bad? Any other sites or starting kits you'd like to refer to?

Cheers,
Aciid

Many people on this forum have ordered from lockpickshop.com, and have been satisfied with their orders. However, the lock picking starter kit you linked to is probably unnecessary for an absolute beginner. I reccomend getting a basic set of picks, a lock from the hardware store, and practice using db's exercises.

Okay thanks alot for not flaming me ;D

One more question tho, after reading around alot, checking some sets out etc, i found both European and US lockpicking sets.
I'm from sweden, just thought, will the US ones work in most swe locks? Or do I need special lockpicks for that? :)

Cheers,

The euro picks are usually slimline. This means that they are thinner than US picks (US locks tend to have less restrictive keyways). At least here in the US, if you buy a cheap lock, the standard (non-slimline) picks work fine.

Ok thanks, and one more question to come ;D

I've heard ppl saying those "big" sets isnt really needed, so I wondered if you have any personal opinions of a set that i should start with? For example is : http://www.lockpickshop.com/p-JPXS-6.html too little? Is it good to start with?

The first set isnt i dont think,

On US shops you will have to look for the specific named slimlines i think,

This is your smallest set,
http://www.lockpickshop.com/p-C500EZ.html

I think is the better suited for you,
http://www.lockpickshop.com/p-C1510.html

Hope this helps,

Ahh there they are ;D Thanks alot, going to place an order on it, to try it out, just a noob so far but with all theese tutorials and some practice i'm sure i'll get hold of it ;)

Also, this Raking(?) method, can it be done with theese or do you need those specific "Raking picks" ? I mean I know the method, but isnt it just a matter if it fits or not? :)

Click my sig picture and have a read through the guides there on repinning a lock and the single pin picking exorcise, grab yourself a practice lock while your waiting for your picks to arrive,

If you put the LP101 code in the discount box you may get 10% off from lockpickshop but i think as they are already discounted you wont,

I agree with Shrub, the smaller sets will work out better than the larger ones, especially to start. I have a couple sets of lockpicks, but really only use my favorite tools the most - the rest end up collecting dust. One thing you might want to do if you haven't already is browse the different sections of this forum because there is a TON of information on this site just waiting for you to read it. :)
