Yale or ERA replacement cylinders with things like the bird cylinders being the nasty cheap ones,

nice one mpj. It would be a good idea but i thik it would take someone an awful long time. Think we will have to tlearn the hard way! I guess there would be more satisfaction in it too. think i shall try and befriend a small independent lock shop and see if they will kindly donate cylinders etc

Shrub is this what you meant? getting hold of some decent second hand cylinders from shops, ebay etc? thanks for the idea, finding them isnt easy. Well its a slow process and im enjoying it

No a replacement cylinder is one that is a standard size as in the standard yales etc but going to a lockie should be a good place to start and ask if he has any broken locks or locks hes removed from doors, they will all have them and they should be pretty cheep if not free,
