Paperclip Lock pick Guide! by Sams Choice

When it comes down to it there is nothing better than manual tools for your Lock pick Set, whether they be retail, homebrew, macgyver style. DIY'ers look here.

my apologies lockpicknewbie. I read it wrong many times. I dont know much about rotteneggs.com, really nothing, but i understood what you were talking about now. I thought you were talking about this post in general. I got the praising, i thought you were ranting about this topic for some reason. I still kinda got that vibe when i reread it. Just an honest mistake that happens on forums. Me? embarrassed? a little, but i will get over it... ahhaha. Sorry again Lockpicknewbie.

I will agree that LP101 is a great forum, and many of the members are truly friendly, helpful, honest and good natured. And this is a great topic.

And I will even offer a Hip Hip HOORAH for it!

But I also see social snobbing and arrogance too at every level.

nice

Postby clockwork orange » 8 Oct 2006 16:29

that is not a bad idea, however you could improve on it by using a bit of spring wire that you can get at most model shops for springs and stuff, that would make them tougher and harder wearing, but there is a problem, what happent if i use all my paperclips, it is down to you sams choice, please post a topic on how to turn a lockpick into a paperclip, please. nice work though ill make some even if they dont work I have already made and 22 pice set from crap that i found e.g. hacksaws, street cleaner bristles and steak knives etc etc

hey clockwork. The main point of the post was to use just very simple tools. DIY kinda stuff. Paperclips and needlenose pliars. and a hammer. Getting wire would be a bit much. and the paperclips do work, if you know what your doing...

Yeah I know but i know that a lot of people new into lockpicking might not have the proper tools e.g. grinders, files and dremels, so the obvious choice would be paperclips . But it is hard to start lockpicking with paperclips, so by getting spring wre from a model shop even beginners can make some fairly good picks withut spending a fortune.

You are right - they would make far better picks using decent wire.

The idea behind using paperclips is "I am too lazy to spend money, and so use paperclips" Using good wire would require people spending money.
