Mailbox

Postby blankcheck » 12 Oct 2006 13:09

I purchased 12 sets of brand new mailboxes at a junk auction here in Chicago for a couple hundred bucks. They retail for about $100 each. The only problem is non of them come with keys. I now know it was a mistake, because after all is said and done - it's just not worth it. Anyways, I was told the are Bommer locks. I would like to open and replace all the locks, so I can give the new owner a mailbox plus a new set of keys. Normally, the post office has to install a lock - which would mean that I could simply open the top, but that's not the case here. This is how I should have asked my question in the first place, sorry about that. I believe my question has already been answered, but anything else would be helpful. This has turned into quite a long thread....

I'm not sure if this is what you are looking for but this company makes mailbox locks to suit most of the US post boxes. I think they cost about $5-$6 each

Thank you very much for taking the time to show me those links. I was actually asking for the best technique to open the mailboxes (?) I assumed picking them would be the way to go, but maybe I'm wrong.

Thanks
