maglocks are pick-proof... nothing on the outside. Granted, you can bypass the unlock mechanism, but then you're still just activating a switch that unlocks the lock... I guess it's semantics.

All you need for maglocks is a very large electro magnet that you can reverse the polarity on. Its an old trick actually.

Just make sure you have a very large one, and a really good power supply. You have to be able to overcome 2000+ pounds/sq. ft. if necessary.

Magnets are funny sometimes.

interesting... I just installed one that works on what the mfg's calling a 'rotating polarity'. I'll admit I don't understand it, but the way it was explained to me, was that the two plates are divided into quarters, which work on different strengths of magnetism, polarity etc... and they change every so often so that it's 'virtually impossible' to know what quarter's doing what.... It could be a huge line of bull, but it's a sound theory.

Sounds like it would be, but I want you to take four magnets and place them n.s.n.s. side by side and see what happens.

They will pull apart. That means that if they really are doing what they say they are, their either seperating the magnetic coils with a shield or they are letting them interfear with each other. In any case, the effective PSI would be reduced because of a loss of surface area on the place, or by interfearing magnetic fields.

Suffice it to say, you can always do a polarity juggle with your magnet to bypass it. Just make it random and eventually you will futz up the magnets on the lock so bad they will just let go.
