Been a while since i showed my face around here

OK so ya i have had no spare cash to buy any new locks to practice on and i can pick all the locks i have. but after i got an email saying i hadnt been on in ages it reminded me and i got my self a couple of cheap locks to brush up on.

£1.49 from a hardware shop

BLACK SPUR (High Quality)
It opens in 2/3 rakes and easy to single pin pick. for anyone that wants a cheap lock to start on it seems perfect. its not cheap as in only 2/3 working pins but its so badly made you can feel each pin go in easily. theres a real defining click as each one goes in.

Wait until you get a lock that is actually high quality. They get really hard to pick. Take Emhart or EVVA for example. What you have is a good start but its not really a high quality lock.

I never even seen one around, I had a thread int he advanced area about them. Noah has them on his site. He also says he hsnot either heard of anyone picking one.

Nothing like interlocking pins to get the blood pumpin.

Yeah they are really hard to come by. I was lucky enough to find one still in the box unused! Im wondering why a great lock like emhart is no longer in production.

In the UK the best begineer lock would infact be a Yale cylinder or one of the simular brands like ERA,

They are easily re-pinnable and a very standard keyway,

I say any of the lower end masterlocks work good, Plus I found one at the grocery store once... I picked it a few times VERY easy but the lock broke after awhile the pins just fell right out so... Don't go to cheap.. lol.

Ya i dindt think it would be THAT easy, i usually play with Yale 5pin door locks but ive managed to trash the springs in the 3 i had. dont ask me how but i managed it some how.... and i had a couple of qui so i picked them up.

the master lock no.3 is easy too

Had a master lock but it got to the point where i could pick it in about 20 seconds....... then after using it for a bump hammer it just wouldnt be picked anymore, could use the key but it was ruff and could not pick it at all.

They make the perfect bump hammer, plastic case round them seems to take some of the impact, like the Perspex on the tomahawk hammer i guess
