Welcome all,
I hope you are all enjoying the site as much as I do. Just remember two things:
1) Search for answers before posting a question. But do not ever be afraid to ask one.
2) Only pick your own locks, and not the one's you rely on (front door, car door, safe).
Here are some helpful links to information you need to know and want to know:

Welcome everybody,
For all thoes new to the site and lockpicking, LP101 is a great place to start.
Take a look at the new users section, first and don't be afraid to ask any questions just remember to try a search before posting.
If you're looking for locks to pick, buy some but, DO NOT PICK LOCKS YOU RELY ON
I repeat DO NOT PICK LOCKS YOU RELY ON, they can and will break, then your house/car/safe/chasity belt is vulnerable or unable to be opened (think: emergency situation).
Cheers,
UWSDWF

I tend to lurk and not post on most forums, but I see here that I'm going to need to post to get into some of the areas that I'd like to read about, so I'm gonna have to rack my tiny little brain for things to say that are worthwhile, that someone else hasn't already said. Doesn't happen too often. . .
Still, this is a great site, and it's great to be here.

Hello all.
I stumbled upon this site totally by accident and am now rather hooked It's been many years since I picked anything (think school briefcases and combo locks during the 70's/80's lol) But it's rekindled a desire to learn how to pick properly (only for my own enjoyment, although it could come in handy at work when some nub looses the keys to their machine)
I have started fabricating a set of Bogota picks, hopefully when they're done I'll post some pics in the appropriate thread.
Oh, and if I cant find the answer by searching I'll be bugging you all with questions, so my apologies in advance

Hi. I'm new here, and I'm fairly new to lockpicking.
Exploration of Howstuffworks, Google and Gizmodo eventually led me here.
I have interests in chemistry, anything to do with computers, psychology, and of course finding out how anything works, which leads me here.
Hello everybody
Hi there. If you post private information publicly, any malicious individual can find out your physical address, take a trip over to where you live, lockpick your door, place a bomb in your bathtub, and drive off without you having a clue. Post safely.

Hi everyone, new to the site.
I have just managed to re-pin a lock for the first time thanks to Illusions guide and look forward to picking up new tricks. I'm studying forensic science and am interested in computing also. Look forward to seeing you all on the forums.

Hi,
Got bored at uni one day and stumbled upon the MIT guide on the net, about a week after reading that i managed to pick the lock to my front door with a safety pin and some dodgy torque wrench. Since then I've made my own tools now and have conquered all the locks in my home. Padlocks seem to be a bit difficult for me but hopefully i can learn a few tricks here that might help me out.

Hi. I have personally repinned a bedroom door lock, to match a key I do have. I have managed to pick some locks as well. (wafer locks specifically.) Also, have dealt with resettable combination locks, and figured out how to open them in less than a minute, even when I don't know the current combination to such locks, and also opened master brand combination locks as well.
I have taken various locks apart to learn how they work too.

Hi y'all,
I'm a school teacher (Design & technology) so stuff like this really fascinates me. I'll be reading the MIT guide later today and have already ordered a set of picks from lockpickshop.com with 10% off! Excellent.
I'm going to start properly, by disassembling a number of old locks and working through the recommended tutorials - should be fun.
I'd be interested to know if there is a local group ... Anyone know of there's something going on in Devon?
Cheers,
Adam

Hey-
I started learning to pick when I was 12. They caught me trying to open a filing cabinet at camp (not for any mischievous reasons, just for the challenge!), and I stopped trying to learn more.
15 years later, the curiosity has reawoken in me and, with great sites like this, it's so much easier to learn. Also, I've learned not to pick other people's filing cabinets.
I'm a computer science graduate student. It seems that there are a lot of CS people who are getting into lockpicking these days, but I don't personally know any of them so I don't know if I should claim to be part of the movement.
Anyone know of any lockpicking groups in Indiana?

Hi all
New to the site, looks great though. I am not a locksmith at the mo although have some experience of picking a few years ago. I am actually planning on setting up shop doing sales and installations in my local area (South London UK), just looking into funding etc now. Looks like there is loads of good advice here so will be lurking like mad finding out stuff
Cheers
