Locksmith specific multi tool

Postby ufd538 » 26 Nov 2006 0:43

A while back I saw a locksmith multi tool and forget where I saw it, if any one knows the manufacturer web site I would be thankful. It was for US locksmiths as it had SAE sizes of allen wrenches.

It had:

1/8" hex wrench
5/64" hex
screw drivers
spanner wrench, I think?
Of course pliers
and probably some other stuff

When you say multi tool do you mean like these fold out plier things like a swiss army knife on steroids?

If so i suspect it sounds like somthing that will be in the locksmith mags or somewhere like Wendt etc would stock,

yeah, fold out pliers, with common tools a locksmith would use folding out of the handles. I will have to check some locksmith ledgers. I saw the stupid things in ads and the internet a million times. They are expensive...well kinda...$65-75. It was one of those things that seemed a little gimmicky and it might be awkward to use. And as anyone knows there are a gazillion tools out there, it is just prioritizing your need.

I was revisiting the idea of a multi-tool. I was thinking just a leatherman squirt P4, common tools and small enough to be uncombersome in pants pockets. Thought I would take another look at the one I saw for locksmiths. I thought the website was nice and simple like locksmithtool.com....but that doesn't come up anything but a directory. Perhaps they are no longer made.

Caveat: I don't know if this is a reputable site with which to place orders, but:

http://www.gerber-tools.com/

That has a lot of the various models of Gerber multi tools.
