ABUS no.40 40mm key blank?

Postby Virgintamr » 14 Dec 2006 22:16

I searched the forums and didn't come up with anything. I was hoping someone might know where I could purchase a couple of blanks that would fit an ABUS no.40 padlock? We use these for lockout/tag out at work and a lot of the locks keys have been lost. I've tried picking these locks but so far I haven't had any luck. In the mean time I thought I would make me a bump key to see if that works on them but I can't find any blanks.

Don't know where to get those key blanks but I think bumping most abus padlocks is rather annoying. You might have a tough time trying it. The spool pins in combination with the spring loaded core make it very difficult.

When we first went to this brand of lock I thought they were cheap and tried to avoid using them. I stuck with the Master Locks. Now since I've become interested in lock picking and learned more than the average Joe, I'm really impressed with how good the lock actually is. I have to spend some time picking the Master Locks but I can do it. These are different. The key holes are smaller so it's hard to move the pick around, the notch at the top where you would put the tension spring is backwards from the master locks so the tension wrench won't fit in it the same way causing you to take up the much needed room inside the key hole, and last they are five pin instead of four.
