does anyone else have this problem with master locks?

every time i try to pick master locks with tension wrenchs ive made from winshield wipers the wrench will slip when i start working in the lock with my picks and all the tension on the plug gets released and the pins fall back into place. does anyone have any tips to prevent the wrench from slipping like it is?

get a thicker wrench.

use two wrenches!

put one on the bottom where your wrench slips to, and then put the other one like normal, and then your tensioning wrench has no where to slip to!

i had the same problem with some locks, masters as well, and using a wider or thicker wrench usually meant sacrificing valuable keyway space. so i did that, and i lost no usable space and still tensioned it well.

try that!

omg! that is an awesome idea! i have to put the tension wrench in the top, above the pins because of the same thing happening, but i hate having it in the top. now, i can just put my small one in the bottom, and the larger one normally. thanks for the great idea krypos!

On the Master # 3, the narrower wrench fit ok, while a #5, and #1 needed the wider wrench.

Great idea to use a piece of the narrower wrench to shim it to fit.

I just got a couple of old wipers, and stripped the stainless. Great stuff, I don't know if the strips are all the same size, but mine are 3/32 x .032.

The size will vary. Your longer blades will have wider strips.

the double wrench is a good idea i hadn't though of. personally i have a cut down wrench i use on the top of a key way that works quite well.

i use TW on top sometimes as well, really, it depends on the keyway. some i use the bottom, others i use the top, and some locks with funkier keyways i just use the 2 wrench method.

i thought for sure more people would have thought of that themselves, but then again, if that were true, there wouldnt be any thread like this, so yeah.

Try this: Break a pair of tweezers in half and bend the tip. I use this for bigger locks and it works wonders.
