Yale bump key

Postby lee.cook » 26 Jan 2007 18:02

Hey,

After hearing about bump keys and watching several videos on youtube, I decided to have a go at making my own using a key copy and a file.

Well, it opens my 5 pin Yale cylinder when I use the bump technique, but the lock also opens if I sort off wiggle the key in the cylinder.

I took a picture of my key (I like my photographer work) and I wanted to see what I was doing wrong, I made an Abus bump key but it only works in the original cylinder and not any other Abus cylinders which are the EXACT same.

I read up somewhere that to bump a 5 pin cylinder you only need four cuts..

Please can you spare some advice, thank you.[/img]

Hello,

I used a vice and used a filer to shave down the cuts.. should I post a picture of my Abus key, the problem with that is, it only works in one cylinder, and I cant try the Yale key as I only have one cylinder aswell.. I have three Abus cylinders..

Thanks

bump keys

Postby jimmysmith » 26 Jan 2007 19:37

wow. that key looks rough,,,,.....smooth it out a little... make those high points the same all the way down the blade.

and as far as you sticking ithe bump key in and jiggling it... thats the ''other way'' of useing the bump key....so its not really a bad thing..
I will bet in your yale lock the pins are some what near the same size. making it especially easy to use the jiggle methed

I agree, very rough looking, likely to cause severe pin damage or not breach the first pin due to the steep incline on the grooves.
What a load of old BiLocks!!!!

I'm probably 0 for 400 in looking for safes behind wall paintings
