is it a KIK? keyway in knob cylinder?from the back of the keyway there are 2 steel retainign clips that hold the plug/cylinder into the rest of the knob, u need to slighty pry the retaining clip back away from theknob and kind of bang it out.

To effect KIK cylinder removal without damaging the unit, you need a Kwikset core removal tool, available for $2.95 from lockpicks.com. (Among other places.) Pretty easy to make, though, out of a hackaw blade, I should think, if somebody can post a life-size diagram. You can see a nice pictorial here members.bellatlantic.net/~vze4vxnd/kwikrekey.htm
The opposite end of the tool, has a little groove shape, like a shallow U, that is designed to push off the c clip on the end of Kwikset plugs.
Another way is a Kwikpull, but its a bit pricey at around 60 bucks or so.

I have the kwickset plug follower and use it all the time on dead bolts. but this door knob lock is diffrent, there is no clip in the back. well nothing that i can see anyway, it does not look like anything can be removed from the back.

Check out this pdf from Kwikset. It's the service manual for these locks and shows everything you will ever want to know about these locks.

I still have not found it with the Search.

Unfortunately I don't have the power to make it a sticky. Would be nice if it were tho. But I leave that decision up to the Moderators.
Im always happy to help.

looking at the pics. you still need to remove the tailpiece then need to go inside the lock and pop the cylinder out. you can also make a tool yourself by having a very long tweezers bent in a certain way. you can also remove the cylinder while the lock is still mounted on a door.
