Cutting icore keys on standard key machine

i love the whole icore thing i just bought a framon which cuts them ok but still gives me a problem from time to time.my next big purchase is gonna be for a a-1 blue punch just for icore work .im looking to get hooked up with alot of code stuff for anyone in the area that has alot of keys in a master system to cut i can sub contract that part.but cutting that many on a framon just doesn't seem like it would work well.

The framon should be fine. Make sure you are getting the keys in the vise correctly. Also, check the factory calibration with a weiser or kwikset key. Something that has a flat back to it. If you are .001" off, recalibrate it. Make sure you always rezero your indicators after cutting a few keys or after turning the indicators off for the day.

I've been doing locksmithing at work for about 3 years, however locksmithing takes up about 8% of my job duties, and out of that 8% I deal with Best SFIC and keys about 95% of the time.

If you want to produce an original best type key you might try to pick up a well cared for used key punch. I have seen punch machines well over 40 years old that could make an original new key quicker than any standard key cuter. Ofcourse that also depends on the punch operator..

I have never had the pleasure to use a code cut machine. I currenty use a Rytan/Best punch that is about 4 years old..........

That *IS* a code machine, albeit application specific. Yes, Pak A Punch does have Icore option.

I know there are third party icore stationary punches as well, but some are not very intuitive and cut from bow-to-tip while BEST icore system is cut from tip to bow.

I guess you'll have to excuse my ignorance but all the punch type machines are refered to as combinators and yes they are used to produce an original key via bitting codes......

When I said I never used a code/cut machine I was refering to something like a Blue Shark code machine and or a HPC codemax machine, or a Framon.........etc., etc........
