Hello to all. I have been a amateur lockpicker for most of my life, but have already learned lots by reading your guides. What a great resource you are!

I have a ignition switch out of a 1964 Chev Impala that I robbed out of it 30 years ago when I junked it and put in my 1957 International pickup. Unfortunately, I gave my only decent key to a fellow to use, and he lost it. I have removed the cylinder and have the disks out, but they are all identical. They apparently are offset by a piston set at 90 degrees from the disks which locks up the cylinder when it is extended by a mismatch. My question is: What do I reset to set it up for a different key?

Hello!

I was not aware that an introduction was required protocol, otherwise I would have done it sooner.

I am a soldier (Military Police), a security specialist (Industrial Security Services), and a locksmith (Defense Auxiliary Group.)

I have been opening cars, doors, etc for almost eight years now, but still find that newbies have a lot to offer. They seem to think outside the box more often than us "experienced" types. This site is by far the best avenue for instruction and knowledge.

Keep up the good work!

Welcome everybody,
For all thoes new to the site and lockpicking, LP101 is a great place to start.
Take a look at the new users section, first and don't be afraid to ask any questions just remember to try a search before posting. Cause everyone should HYSF as well as there Pick-fu.

If you're looking for locks to pick, buy some but, DO NOT PICK LOCKS YOU OR ANYONE ELSE RELY ON
I repeat DO NOT PICK LOCKS YOU OR ANYONE ELSE RELY ON, they can and will break, then your house/car/safe/chasity belt is vulnerable or unable to be opened (think: emergency situation).
Keep it legal.
Cheers,
UWSDWF

Hi everybody, I'm new to the site and I'm from Italy.
Unfortunately I could only pick one "old & rusty" lock. So I'll keep practising!

PS digital_blue for the help logging in with my account!

New to lockpicking

Postby nothumbs » 9 Apr 2007 22:22

Not a pro, although I deal with security in my job. Got the bug and started with a Dyno Kwick Pick and the Schlage on my front door. I've moved on from there, both in the locks I try and the equipment I use. Great info here, and thanks to all those who have posted it. I hope to contribute at some point.

I'm new to this forum today, but have been interested in locks and security for a very long time.
I especially interested in access controls, either it has a code or a card, and alarms. But also in the good old mechanical locks. Don't have much experience bypassing locks and alarms, but more installing it.

Hey guys. To say that I am new to the world of lock picking would be a gross understatement. I kind of stumbled upon this website and it piqued my interest even more. I am a senior acting major at Ball State University in Indiana who happens to also be in ROTC. Thats about all I have to say about myself at this point... so it's good to be here I guess, and I look forward to learning more about this craft.
