EZ Set

Postby xboxteen01 » 18 Apr 2007 16:46

i just picked up an EZ set 5 pin, cylinder deadbolt from k-mart for $10. its not a bad lock, but i haven't been able to pick it yet with my set. has anyone heard about these locks? are they good or bad for a practice lock.i plan to disassemble 1 cylinder and save the other, though both will be used for picking.any thoughts on these locks are good(the name strangely mimicks kwikset)

There is a reason you got it for $10. It's crap. Same keyway as Kwikset I beleive, except I'm not sure the depths are the same.

Any lock is good for practice. Since I assume this is what you're using to learn with, there's no reason to throw it away and buy a Kwikset -- I doubt you'd be any better at picking a Kwikset than an EZ. Just be patient. Follow the guides here and remove pins so you can slowly and incrementally build up your skills.

Its great for practice. Just dont be tempted to use it on a door. Be careful when you dissassemble the cylinders. I think they are different from Kwiksets, but you probably won't have problems. Just post pictures if you are unlcear on anything.
