I'm 19, and a Locksmith apprentice. I think taking an active interest in my job is a good thing. (As opposed to other members I work with, who 'stop' being apprentice locksmiths at 5pm.)

I'm 15. I started reading up on lockpicking when I was 13 and occasionally picked with safety pins until about two months ago when i got my first pickset from the internet. I wasn't planning on telling my parents about it but my dad happend to beat me home the day they came, so natually he asked me about them. Surprisingly he didnt care!

I still havn't told my mum yet. In my situation i don't think it would be the best idea at the moment. My brother is a couple years older than me and is the 'bad' child. Lets just say hes got into quite a bit of trouble for stealing. So i doubt my mum will believe my intentions are honourable when i tell her about my hobby.

My plan is to wait until i get good at it, and get a fair few practice locks. That way i can say 'if i simply wanted to break into things, i wouldnt have bothered wasting money on all the practice locks'

I went right ahead and told them about it. My dad always joked that I am going to break into the bank on the weekend but I have never been intrested in bypassing other peoples locks. Im 15 now and have been picking since 13. I originally made my own picks because I had no means of getting them online. I still make my own picks and I like them better because I can custom make them to the design that I want.

A snapper pick gun can really throw you off and you get lazy. start with a hook, a wrench and go from there, even rakes can mess you up.

Maybe I need to change my name to Grandpa :)

I'm 33 (soon to be 34) and have been picking for about 19 years. I've also owned a locksmith company for 10.

My parents knew I was picking locks growing up and since I was hardly ever in trouble, it was not really an issue.

I taught my father to do it about 8 years ago when I hired him :P

I'm 19 and have been picking for about 3 years. I was first introduced to hobby picking at HOPE 5 and I've been hooked ever since.

I never had to hide it from anybody because I always had "unusual" hobbies (hacking/coding, phreaking, amateur radio, etc.) so lockpicking just kind of fit right in with the rest :)
