bump key not working?

OK I got my bump key today in the mail from bumpkey.us and I suck. I can bump the lock like 5 in 50 times. Any tips? this is a master lock no. 3

Bumpkeys.US sells "depth keys" The tip and shoulder are not modified, therefore making it legal to mail them. They do however not put any indication of the origin of the package on the envelope. And the keys are shipped tightly wrapped so they don't rattle. Mabye I should get mine out again, I was curious so I ordered some and got bored really fast.

And as I don't recall reading a question/answer about it, I have to ask you: Why/where you need a bumpkey for?

What are you using as a bump hammer? Using something soft like wood can complicate things.

If the question is pointed to the OP, then I can answer also: He/she is using a laminated padlock as a (sledge) hammer.

no, now I am using a screwdriver handle that is like rubber. I have gotten everything to work now just needed some practice.

ps. i tried to get a locksmith to make me a 999 key and he said he couldnt do it because he got in trouble b4 with the police for making somebody one.

Just so you are aware, the keys from bumpkey.us will need to be filed to work properly. It is a federal crime to send pre-modified bump keys in the mail. What you will be getting is "Space and Depth keys."

Could you please explain this? I just bought the 11 piece set from bumpkey.us and am not having the best luck with them. How should I file them so that they work properly.
