Recently picked.

I recently bought an Aspec rim lock (type for night latches). I had picked it in a few minutes. It cost me £7.49. I also bought a padlock, cost me £1, this took me about 30 mins to pick (was a bit confused). It is very surprising that companies are selling quite expensive locks, that look top notch quality, yet are quite useless when a skilled lockpicker is about. And the only reason I can put to the cheap padlock taking 30 mins to pick is because of it's cheap, shabbyness.

Shabbiness?

give us a picture of the key. I've come across a master #3 that a room of competent pickers couldn't pop in a reasonable amount of time due to a lucky bitting.

Conversely, I've come across solid locks from quality companies that have an unfortunate bitting and can be defeated by the insertion of an l-rake.

it's not that I couldn't pop it, I just didn't feel like it at the time. :-)

Yes, I think I would have to argree that £7.49 is rather cheap for a lock that is protecting all of your valubles. I did notice the were Euro Cylinder locks selling for about £19.99, are these more secure locks to pick, I have one on my front door and many of my family use them on thier patio doors. I was just wondering how secure they actually are.

Btw, I am not planning on picking my door locks, once again I am just wondering how secure they are!
