Hi, I'm a total noob at lock picking and was wondering if you guys could suggest some household things that can be used as lock picks. Im trying to pick a standard defiant lock (the one you turn the handle to open.)
Any information would be great.
Thank you

Welcome everybody,
For all thoes new to the site and lockpicking, LP101 is a great place to start.
Take a look at the new users section, first and don't be afraid to ask any questions just remember to try a search before posting. Cause everyone should HYSF as well as there Pick-fu.
If you're looking for locks to pick, buy some but, DO NOT PICK LOCKS YOU OR ANYONE ELSE RELY ON
I repeat DO NOT PICK LOCKS YOU OR ANYONE ELSE RELY ON, they can and will break, then your house/car/safe/chasity belt is vulnerable or unable to be opened (think: emergency situation).
Keep it legal.
Cheers,
UWSDWF

if you locked your keys inside and this is an emergency how are you replying to this message and why has it taken you 4 hours to get back to this thread....
if you really need help call a locksmith, and remember they'll want to see some I.D.

At least TRY to make up some halfway decent lie about a legitimate situation that is at least partially believable.

No i encourage the truth,
Unfortunatley the best thing for you to do is to call a locksmith or start making breaky breaky noises because we cant tell you how to make tools from house hold stuff if your locked out your house hold,
We also do not help people to pick locks in use or not their own,
You will not be able to learn to lockpick before it goes cold and dark,

out of your room? do your parents have a spare set? make one for future occasions.
I wanna see a pic of the door. I love damage! =)
btw.. just reading a post or two wont be a very good substitute for hours and hours of practice. I've been picking for several years, but there's no way I could convey to you how to pick a Defiant with a paperclip and screwdriver or other house hold items. Sometimes it sucks, you just gotta kick a door in, and then you take the lock apart and get to figure out how it all works while you repair the door jamb. not fun, but educational none the less.
stick around the forum, and pick up a practice lock and some real picks. house hold items only work in movies, or on very cheap locks, usually padlocks.
see ya

Lets have a look at your post history shall we? Hmmm, I think you made a typo, it should have been, yonex wrote:I have proved useless in other threads... if i dont have anything helpful to say i wont say it.
We dont help people pick locks in use regardless of emergency because a real emergency does facilitate smashing things as you said you did do in the end,
I have to ask however hows the door and locks gogin to get fixed with no lockie in the area?
I am unaware of any area that uses locks for security that can not be covered by a lockie, i am the only local lockie in my area but before i came on the scene the locals used someone didnt they,
Stories are great but best left for bedtime, sorry youve had t break your door but thats the best you could have hoped if what you say is all true,
