Hi all!
I have lurking the forums for the past few days and I have learnt (somewhat!) how to pick locks! I have tried pickng a few years ago, but I was finding it really difficult.
After reading one of the articles on how to open up a lock and replace the pins, I began practicing selecting the binding pins and so forth. Now I have got myself doing 5 pinned locks with 2 mushroom pins in about 5-10 minutes. I must say, it is extremly addicting.
This place is fun.

[color=blue]I have been interested in locksmithing for a number of years - my Dad became a locksmith after retiring from his main line of work as a heat treater in a tool factory, and observing his work fascinated me. After recently inheriting a car WITHOUT ignition, door or trunk keys and learning how expensive and frustrating it was to enlist the help of a professional, I decided it was time to pursue my interests a little more seriously. I am looking into training and have started some reading to familiarize myself with the basics, and I am looking forward to learning as much as I can about this field. Any recommendations or suggestions for reading materials and perhaps a quick review of some online training courses would be a tremendous help to me. Thanks!

Welcome to the site. Please read the stickys and the forum rules. Answers to your questions can likely be found by using the search function. If you cannot find the answer post a new topic with an informative title and we will be glad to help you. Any questions you have in reference to your autimobile however are off limits in the public forums.

Hi, I'm Luiz from Brazil.
I started learning lock-picking online about 6 years ago, I didn't had enough time and/or tools to pratice so I gave it a break, and now I'm trying to get back to this wonderful "sport".
Seems that there is lots of things to learn here, and lots of NEW stuff to pick up too, now there are even bump keys, I've never heard of that before back in 2001.

Hey all,
Name's Bubba I am in the airborne and currently serving in Iraq, one of the places where we pull an easy duty (the kind where you sit around an the only possible danger is incoming rockets) there is a big sign hanging that says "NO ELECTRONICS" a medic buddy of mine was on one day and was playing with a master lock and a home-made pick / wrench he let me play with it and (just by luck Im sure) I popped it in about 1 - 1 1/2 minutes. His eyes got all big and he asked how I did it, we played with it the rest of the night and couldn't get it back open. Since then I have become addicted to playing with and learning about locks and found this site I hope to learn a lot and maybe find a way to give some back.

Welcome everybody,
For all thoes new to the site and lockpicking, LP101 is a great place to start.
Take a look at the new users section, first and don't be afraid to ask any questions just remember to try a search before posting. Cause everyone should HYSF as well as there Pick-fu.
If you're looking for locks to pick, buy some but, DO NOT PICK LOCKS YOU OR ANYONE ELSE RELY ON
I repeat DO NOT PICK LOCKS YOU OR ANYONE ELSE RELY ON, they can and will break, then your house/car/safe/chasity belt is vulnerable or unable to be opened (think: emergency situation).
Keep it legal.
Cheers,
UWSDWF

Hi all.
I picked my first lock over 20 years ago. I've always had a burning desire to figure out what made things work. I took a locksmithing course about ten years ago and gradually became less interested in it. I recently dug out some of my old blanks, picks, locks, key machine...etc. and started playing around again. I have plenty of items to possibly trade for new things. I have access to a full machine shop and plan to start working on making some pick sets for a few nasty abloys that have always been haunting me. Glad I came across this site and happy to be a member. I'm sure I will learn as well as share information that will keep me interested in this great hobby.
