Whats up with that?

Postby wolt » 5 Jun 2004 6:25

Alright, I think ya all are really helpfull and all but now I'm wondering again.. heh =)
First of I'am wondering what the restrictions on this page is for, I'm like cruising along the page sucking up information and then this irritateing message just pops up (Sorry, but only user granted spesial access can read this forum). Now, what's that all about?
Seconf of, nobody told me if a camel security padlock (3-4 pins) were a really simple lock or not.
And third and last I'm wondering about how to open a weapons cabinet, that got to be a real challenge, or am i wrong?
Thanks In advance

A weapons cabinet will be no problem. I see few pin tumblers on them (3 pins or less when they are on them). A lever tumbler (even harder to find on them than pin tumblers) or a Disk tumbler (most common) should present you no problem since they are really easy to pick.

Those cammels. I had no problem picking them when I tried. They're real easy to pick. Just 3 or 4 pins. I prefer Yale padlocks over all. Its a really good lock. If a coustmer wants you to open a camel you might as well just tell them to hammer it and then replace it. It would take less time and be cheaper for them than having them call you out and pay you.

A gun cabinet in the UK at least will be very difficult to open.

Likely less security measures elsewhere in the world but due to the strict gun control laws in the UK gun cabinets must have at least a seven lever lock or two 5 lever locks.

As always, just pleasing answers and no dumb stuff like the dude wanting to know how to pick and hotwire an bmw  , and the other guy wanting to know a page that ships tools with security... How stupid do those guys think everybody is? :?
The weapon cabinet: Now you see this weapon cabinet i got from my father for my birthday and i really dont know anything about it, what i do know is that it uses a 2 sided key and that it got a good space og nothing before you can enter the lock part itself, that tells you anything?
Oh, one last thing: Ya know those normal indoores locks, the ones on the toilets and beedroomes, how do you pick those?

Ok first welcome to the forum.

If you read the forum at the top of the advanced section you would have answered your first question:
Advanced Locks Information
Read how to gain access to the Advanced Locks forums, this is for the higher levels of locks and is invite only.

If you refrained from using swear words and tried to construct your sentences and thought about your questions then maybe we will not think you are a "dumb s#$t". I would suggest if you have a question think about the key words and do a search on it. Like "gun" or "bathroom" or even "advanced forum".

I would do a search for "lock identification" or "counting pins" and this should give you a good starting point to work out difficulty of a lock.

If it is a double sided key, are both sides the same? If so then it is probably just double sided so the key works regardless which way you put it in. And it would still be a normal pin tumbler or wafer.

Best of luck and let us know how you go.

Yeah, well i gues my language could need some refineing, guess I'm just in a bit of a bad mood lately...
Conserning the key for the weapons cabinet it's not the same on both sides, and it aint a tumbler lock either, dont know if it's a pin lock at all....
It's sort of like the keys for bedrooms and toilets, you know, stick keys, dont know if that's what theire called in english do.. sorry for my ignorance.

Is the key hole like a triangle with a circle at the top or is it like a normal straight keyhole.

If it is the first it probably is a lever lock. The second it probably would be a wafer lock. Do a search for both and you should find pictures.

Just found out it's a lever lock, now, after what i can get of it it needs quite a bit of pressure, and seeing that it takes a double sided key I dont have a clue on how to pick it, any advises?

I can not help you if it is a lever lock. Sometimes they require special tools sometimes not etc.. You can always look up the gun case on the web to see if it talks about what sort brand/standard lock it uses. Else do a search on the forum for lever lock. Best of luck.

You can get double sided lever lock keys, these are often fitted to safes and other very high security applications.

There is a three in one pick available for these (so I've heard) but the cost is VERY high. I have seen one of these opened by impressioning - not fast, be warned.
sledgehammers make excellent back up picks!
