So I'm out with my friends tonight and we have a few drinks and one of my friends friends lives right across the street from the bar we were at, so after a few pitchers we head across the street to his apartment building. My friends know I'm in to lock picking and ask me if (hypothetically speaking......I only pick my practice locks) if I could pick the apartment building lock. So I see it from a distance and guess it is probably like a kwikset knock off. So I said probably so.......anyways we actually get up to it and it is a freaking medeco M3. So, I'm pretty much like holy **** I've never actually seen one of these before. (they ofcourse could really care less what kind of lock it was). So we call my friends friend to come down and let us in and I told him how good of a lock he had on the place and what not.....and he tells me that they just replaced it, because they had some people break in. So my other friend is like yeah they just did the same thing to my apartment because of some break ins and she was like "the key is really weird." .... so I asked to see it and low and behold...........its a freaking Mul T lock. I couldn't believe it! I almost didn't give it back I was so astonished to have one in my hands.
And that is pretty much my story..........It was quite a night for me.....as locks go. I might add that we did have a DD...

Before i got into lock picking i never really took any notice of locks. Now that im obsessed with lock picking, everytime i go out i cant help looking at every single lock i see! I too get excited when i come across a lock that ive never been before, or a lock that looks incredibly hard to pick.

it's very common to have high security on the front door of an apartment building, the management charges a hefty price to replace lost keys, and so they have better key control. However with 20 people each carrying 2 keys that cost the apartment let's say 8 dollars each, they really can't afford to rekey the lock when keys get lost or tennants leave, so it's not very effective.

My area uses Medeco Patriot for the gates, although the gates have so many gaps in between that you can find a way to slip it open. On thursday I finally saw for the first time a Medeco on a residential front gate. I think the whole neighborhood was very security minded since they all had mean looking dogs too.
If a lock is a puzzle, then its key is the complete picture

Me too US. I swear the only reason I used freeze frame was to check out the lock. Cool lock, the movie really sucks though.

I'll assume the signs on the gate and fence say something along the lines of 'no tresspassing'....
the reason for the gates themselves is to provide the mens rea and actus reus to arrest/charge for tresspassing (they knowingly entered an area they were not wanted in)

Those signs only indicate that there should be no walking on the lanes for autos and to use the gate provided for entrance. Other than that, it is legally a closed space and you are trespassing it if you don't have a key/permission. The area in the picture is for police schools students parking, so it is heavily guarded (video cameras all around) to prevent pranksters and idiots from destroying those cars.
On the topic, when walking around here in Finland the "lets check what lock that is" gets old very fast It is more like "lets check what exact model of Abloy is that"
