Where should I buy??

I want to get started trying too LockPick, and I would like to know where I can get a set from that is trust worthy in your opinion, I live in Australia so I need to find a place that isn't dodgey with shipping and stuff.

Lockpickshop.com is a great place to buy from. I'm from Melbourne too by the way! They aren't a dodgy shop at all. I actually bought that set as my first set aswell earlier in the year. However i recieved a set of lockpicks today except with stainless steel handles, and i think they give better feedback than the ones with the grips. They are more expensive though, so it's up to you which type you choose. But don't get me wrong, the pickset in that link are still very very good and it would be a good set for you to get.

Cant you peal off the grips to revile the steel handle? Thats what I was thinking.

The set comes with the picks without the grips on them, and there is a seperate bag containing 6 grips which you need to put on the picks yourself. So you don't need to have the grips on if you don't want to. However the picks are still different to the ones with stainless steel handles. The metal is not of as high a quality in the set with grips. The handles in the stainless steel picks are much thicker, stronger, durable and more confortable.

Multipick Service in Germany has a pretty big selection to chose from too. They're closer than the US to Australia so you could try them. Just make sure you order and pay with PayPal. If you use a credit card they'll ask you to send proof of ID and stuff and it's a big hassle. They probably don't do it all the time but they did that to me.

I would be cautious about Multipick Service quite apart from the business about sending a copy of your passport etc which I would never do.

I placed a fairly small first (and last) order with them which was faulty when it arrived. Despite sending many emails to them to various email addresses, including one that I know works as they were very happy to correspond with me regarding payment, they have not replied.

I've bought things from multi-pick and they do sometimes ask for I.D confirmation if you try to by specialist equipment, lock crackers or other tools nobody but a locksmith would have a use for,except a criminal.A part from that I have had no problems either placing an order or recieving anything I've ordered.Maybe I'm in a minority but I wouldn't hesitate to recomend Multi-pick Services and no I don't work for them or have any sort of connection to them,just a happy customer.

Goods dispatched within 24hrs normally and can be tracked on their journey to you, also everything is well packaged.

The number of posts I had made when I replied to this does not change the fact that I have not had a good experience with Multipick although to show that I have 0 posts is odd I agree.

Goods dispatched within 24hrs normally and can be tracked on their journey to you, also everything is well packaged.

My goods were well packaged too and also arrived reasonably quickly; the problem as I explained above was that one item was faulty and despite sending many emails to them I never got a response.

Multipick seem to have taken to asking some people for a copy of their credit card and passport for the first order of any type of equipment. This is to prevent credit card fraud not to check the professional status of the buyer.

southord.com and lockpicltools.com are great places for buying picks, but lockpicktools.com had a beginner set that came with 4 picks, 1 tension wrench, and a guide to lock picking, and its only $10, so its a cheap set and it has good quality picks, so if u want to get into lock picking, thats your best bet i would say

Mooseface, when i said the thing about you having a post count of '0' i was referring to just how odd and strange that was. I was not at all trying to say that because you have not made many posts that you do not no what you are talking about.

I think your post count is really messed up though. It says now that you have made 6 posts, but when i went to your profile and clicked 'find all posts by this user' it shows that you in fact have made 8 posts

I am not sure if it is my post count that is screwed up or just that it seems to take rather a long time to update. I agree that it is strange though. I am not getting topic reply notifications most of the time either , very strange. Sorry if i was a bit tetchy about the zero posts thing.

I agree with Marco on this one.
I would not go for the plain picks with the option of rubber handles but choose one of the Southord sets that says 'with metal handles'. These have better quality, more comfortable handles than the ones you suggest but do not take away the feedback like the rubber handles. http://www.lockpickshop.com/MPXS-14.html for example.

Matt, I realise that this post is now about 3 weeks old. Did you order anything yet? What did you get and are you happy with it?
