How to pick a Tri-Circle 264?

Postby orlynoway » 15 Aug 2007 9:53

Hi,

To introduce myself, my name is Charley, and i'm from the Netherlands.
I'm new to lockpicking, i was inspired by some conference movies on youtube.

So i bought my first lock a few days ago, a Tri-Circle 264, because that was the cheapest looking and said "MADE IN CHINA", which obviously is lesser quality, but unfortunately not in this case :P

I started off with paperclips, which ofcourse didn't work, so i made my own half-diamondpick out of a hacksaw blade, which turned out really nice, and opened 3 locks with it: a Tri-Circle 261, an OXlock and an M-loy door lock.

But i still couldn't pick the 264, because it seems to have safety pins and spoolpins inside, so could someone please point out what this lock exactly has and how to pick it? Thanks!

P.S. I've also got a cEs doorlock which i couldn't open yet :(

Search hasnt worked for me at all.

As for the TriCircle 264, I've found it quite hard to single pick, as the keyway goes back quite a lot further than the innermost pin, which can be confusing.
Gentle raking with a half diamond pick while varying the tension a little is much faster, and in my opinion the most efficient way to open this lock.
