Hey all!

I've only picked cheapo padlocks in the past and at work (when the ever elusive keys go missing to the freezer unit) with sheer dumb luck and some paper clips or other bits of metal.

Lock picking seems to be a tedious experiment I will probably have fun with.

In the meantime, I'll be lurking and reading old posts to get an idea of what to do and will ask questions only if I couldn't find the answer.

Greetings from Wisconsin! Got into this for a fun hobby, but managed to damage my first deadbolt so it wouldn't lock again(not a big deal, but annoying), so am trying to learn all that I can. Awesome site, hope to learn a lot by reading up and asking questions!

Hi , I've been following the forum since June and feel it is now time to contribute to some of the discussions. I'm about to semi-retire from the British Army next month and am now embarking on a career as a mobile Locksmith come part-time Custom Gunsmith. I have done both locksmith and safe technician training with Lockmasters Security Institute in the USA. I lack on-the-job experience and practical knowledge but I'm sure that will come with time.

Hi all!

I've just joined the forum and wanted to say hello. I'm just getting started with the art of lockpicking and have read some of the how-to guides found using Google. I made my first two picks using hacksaw blades and a torque wrench using a street sweeper blade. I enjoy learning how locks works and even picked my front door using a rake pick (I could not do it using a hook pick though). I want to get better and have started to pratice on different locks that I own. I've only had luck with the front door and have not been able to open any of the other locks that I have. I've lost the key to my grandfather's metal storage cabinet and that is my new "mission" to open it using homemade picks and new picking skills.

Hi Guys,
I have watched this forum for some time, its time I get involved.

I am not a locksmith professionally. I inherited six pieces of rental property that my dad had had master-keyed with high quality Schlage's. With each change of tenant, rather than have the locks rekeyed by a locksmith, the property manager took off the Schlage's and put on a low-end Kwikset's. Not only did I loose the master-keying, but now I have lost the more expensive Schlage's.

It became time for me to get more involved. I first fired the Property Manager. Then I got a locksmith friend to show me how to re-pin locks. Now, as each piece of property is becoming vacant, I am correcting the problem myself.

The more I get into this, the more I get interested. Trying to set up a keying scheme, and maintain it, is my goal.

Well, after reading and snooping for over a year, I decided I have acquired enough knowledge to do some posting around here. I am no locksmith, only locksport enthusiast. However, the profession has crossed my mind a few times.

I just wanted to formally introduce myself before posting, in case anybody actually reads these introductions anyways...I'm a college student in southern California. I suppose thats all the introduction I have, really . See you around the forums.
