These could easily be faked. I would think that using a fork as a pick would work just about as well as using a paperclip. It might work on some locks, for others, like in the movies (there's a thread in here somewhere about this) they just do something like have just 1 pin stack in the cylinder and jiggle the fork in there for a few seconds and voila, it opens. Videos can be faked too easily.
I realize that there might be some people out there who might be able to legitimately open a lock using a fork, but I doubt that it would give you enough proper feedback to really give you a good sense of what's going on in the lock. My advice is that if you want to pick, there are other materials that you could make much better picks out of, for example, hacksaw blades, windshield wiper blade inserts (for snap pick guns), street sweeper bristles (for tension tools), or just buy some from an online store (this is what I did for my first set).
Trust me when I say that while someone may be able to pick with a modified fork, they will have better luck and MUCH better skill with proper tools.
