Hi, I'm seven.

I have been locksmithing for a while, still a whole lot more to learn though.

Cheers!

Greetings from South Carolina.

It had been about 10 years since I had picked anything when the other day, I just got the fever again. I'm proud to say I've picked every lock I bought in the past week with very little effort. I must be paying a LOT more attention now because I'm better after 10 years than I ever was before.

Anyone have suggestions for what I should get to play with next?

Here is the list of locks I've bought to play with this past week:

(1) Mountain Security (202-40011) <- I had to get a warded just to play with!
(2) Mountain Security (201-40001) [2 mins average]
(3) Brinks "Max" Security (101-50001) [3 minutes average]
(4) Master #3 (3KADLF) [less than a sec raking, 3-4 secs SPP]
(5) Master #5 (5KADPF) [ less than a sec raking, 3-4 secs SPP]
(6) Master #572 (572KADPF) <- I wanted one that was easy to do a cut-away with. [10-20secs SPP. I haven't tried raking it yet.]

I know that none of these are really all that hard to pick with the Brinks and Mountain Security being exponentially harder than the Master locks but, it is a start - especially for my old bones.

The Master locks are serious confidence builders. I'm glad I got the Mountain Security and Brinks locks first! After those, lots of locks seem very easy. Very little if ANY feedback from those two locks. :(

Completely new here.

I do not have any experience at all, but after misplacing my bathroom-key, and being way too cheap to buy a new key, I figured I could maybe learn to pick it.

So far I've figured out it's a warded lock. Humm.. Yeah, gonna be interesting. :P

Long time lurker, first time poster. So far: two Master #3s, #5, #30 and a #40. On to the Kwiksets next.

Hi Guys,

I have been playing with locks off and on for years. For some reason these little mechanisms are very interesting to me. Lately I have been working on Motorcycle /AtV locks. A buddy owns an ATV repair shop and it seems that people are always loosing keys.
Any input you can offer regarding motorcycle locks would be appreciated.

Hi everyone - I've been interested in picking for a few years now, messing with cabinet locks, simple cylindrical door locks, and generally whatever else is easy and available based on the MIT guide and that HowStuffWorks tutorial.

Inspired by a few books I've read, I want to step up my skills, and this seems like the perfect place to learn. I'm particularly interested in locks with wafers, relocking locks with picks, and those simplex five pushbutton combination locks.

Thanks in advance for all your help and enthusiasm :)

I'm new to lockpicking. I'm actually technically not even into it yet. I'm still waiting for my paycheck to buy the Lock Picking 101 kit with DVD from the lock pick shop or whoever it is that is the Lock Picking 101 supporter. Its like 80 bucks and comes with the basically the same lock pick set recommended on the stickies except the handles are rubber plus a lock picking book and a lock picking dvd. But yea, you probably will see me quite a bit on here as I learn best by discussing new ideas and concepts with people that know there stuff.

Just joined so saying hello. Made my first tension tool out of a wiper blade wire today and my first pick too. It's a half round pick and I have been trying to pick a padlock but seem to get stuck on one pin.

Hi there,
I have been lockpicking for about 4 months now. I am actually an active member over on another Lockpicking forum, but I decided to see how this is as I have heard good things about it.

I tend to buy my picks, but have recently branched out into making some. I am currently planning out making some Falle Safe style picks.

Hope all is well
Cheers

Hello!

Postby Asterix-Pix-It » 31 Jan 2008 18:17

Hello! I have been picking for a couple of years. All my picks are self-made and I have actually never seen a "real one". I believe in pin-by-pin picking (aka solving the lock) rather than in raking or using guns and such.
