Neqbie Needing help trying to figure out type of lock

Postby mesach » 25 Jan 2008 13:14

I cannot figure out what type of lock I have, its a cashbox that has 3 dials w/numbers on it, I googled "Types of locks" and a few descriptions call it a combination lock, but trying to find anything on this type of combination lock yields nothing but master padlocks.

Can anyone tell me what type of lock it is, and possibly point me in a direction of how to determine the combo.

P.S. its a cashbox that is in my office that was left here after my boss was "let go" and he wont give up the combo, he just says "you figure it out"

If it has three wheels with 0 - 9 on each, how long will it take you to try all the combinations?
It's all about the tension . . .

Alot longer than I care to spend on it, but the owner of the company wants it open, apparently there are keys and what not in it.

I know that people rarely move the dials more than a few away from where the number is, and it was at 8 2 2 when it was given to me.

I can see part of the assembly behind it and it looks like there is a flat part at 0 5 5 but it wont open when i get it there.

LOL just figured it out, I was thinking that if i could see the flat part that it should open...

But then it struck me... maybe the flat part is what allows it to open...

5 0 0

VOILA!!!! now the owner can have his keys...
