Circular Lock with layers in key hole how to pick Please hel

Postby tpark3693 » 6 Feb 2008 1:54

I have a lock, it is like the kind you see on power transformer boxes or something when it is closed it makes a complete circle, when it is open it slides back into the main body. There are no pins just a bunch of circular like layers down the key shaft. How in the world do you pick a lock like this. I dont see where anyone has come across one yet. Please help its an important issue. thanks in advance you guys are great.

Pictures please, it would help a lot. From your description of how it looks down the keyhole I suppose it could be an Abloy. If so, don't plan on picking it. I'm having trouble picturing the rest of your description.

By the way, is this a lock you own or are you trying to open a box belonging to the power company?

I've seen alot of abloy locks on vending machines. You need to post a picture of the lock. Like MBI said, if it really is Abloy you will not be picking it and the snacks will be safe.

its what he said

Postby raimundo » 6 Feb 2008 11:07

I think its what he said, a type of lock on power boxes, I have a friend who asked me about them once, I had nothing to tell him, but later, he showed it to me in some internet link, to some company that makes the tool to open these, its more of a tool than a key. I have the link somewhere, I'll take a look around,

But the important info is that you can find photos of the tool on some link if you chose the right google search words. A tool jobber to the electricians trade. there are several types of this tool.

If its important, call a locksmith. or pay your electric bill and then a nice guy in a hardhat driving a van will come over and open it for you and show you how it works.
