Hello all I am new to this board long time lurker finaly decied to join
Hopefully be able to share a few things and maybe learn something as well
I have many hobbies and one of them is collecting locks I have colected hundereds of locks some going back to the 1800s up to present day
I have colected for almost as long as I can remember I am just about to turn 33
Almost all of my locks have keys some I even impresioned my own keys for
I am not a locksmith by trade however I do have a lot of lock tools and locks and I am known by my freinds as the guy to go to when it comes to locks and keys I usualy help them out for no charge because locks are just fun to me

I collect all types of locks new old simple all the way up to high security and once in a while I pick a few locks for practice or If I am up for a challenge I grab some high security stuff and pick away

Well anyway I hope to make some new freinds here

I suppose I'll add my introduction to the pile!

Greets all! I'm new to the forums and new to picking. I've only successfully picked a few bargain basement padlocks, but I've been learning a lot more recently, having begun work at a glass shop that also incorporates a locksmith area and a couple of locksmiths.

I've recently made my own pick set out of hacksaw blades, small hook, large hook, couple of rakes along with some tension wrenches. ...now I just need to learn how to use them effectively.

I've only just discovered this forum, though I have been picking locks just for the fun of it ever since college (a rather long time ago - don't ask). I hadn't actually thought about it much or practiced for years, when I came across a box full of tools, picks, an old .005 pinning kit, and a bunch of very dirty locks not long ago. For some reason, it seemed like a good idea again, so I dusted things off and started getting the skills back. They came back amazingly quickly - I've now picked every non-high-security lock I own, and am starting to put spool pins in some of their pin stacks to see if I can deal with that too. I've acquired a few new picks from Peterson & SouthOrd, bought a few new locks, and realized I was catching the bug bad when I caught myself drooling over newbie21's latest pick set. I'm going to have to contact that fellow...

Actually, I can blame it all on bumping. I had read about it recently, and decided I wanted to learn to do it myself (which I have - at least somewhat), which is what triggered a search of the garage for my old junk, which triggered a search of the internet for more info and equipment, which led to this site, and to here, right now. Whew!

It is a wonder to see the extent of growth that has taken place in what is now called "locksport" over the past couple of decades! The number of people that I see using this site and that of our good friends in the Netherlands is astonishing (and a little intimidating as well). I used to think there weren't many people 'out there' who knew anything worth mentioning about this stuff. I see that has changed, if it was ever really true at all. Thank the internet, once again.

At any rate, hello all! I really didn't need to develop yet another expensive hobby, but nonetheless, its good to be here, and I expect I'll be getting to know at least some of you a bit better as time goes on. Now if I can just get the hang of these spool pins...

I have been fascinated by locks my entire life. Ive picked a lock here and there(luckily) but never with any constancy. The main thing i was looking for when I found this site was how to rekey locks. Looks like this site has a TON of info. Ive got a ton of reading to do so ill talk with you guys later.

Hi all.

I cleaned out my attic the other month and found my old home-made pick set (over 20 yrs old),rusty but after a good cleaning still in good shape.
Ive been bit by the lock bug(again ) after actually picking my old ABUS 85/30 from my old chainsaw case within minutes .

The information flow on this site is top notch....big thumbs up!!!!

Hello everyone,
I'm new here, just started picking a week or so ago and I would say I'm hooked. So far I've picked a basic deadbolt, a Fortress 40mm, and I'm working on the shrouded Brinks max security, which I've only picked open once in about 10-12 hrs of picking (I have a feeling this lock will last me a while). Registrated myself on this site a while ago and found this thread just now .

I live in Sweden and i´ve been working as a locksmith at a smaller company for 7-8 months.

Love the job and gonna keep doing it for a looong time, if not for lifetime .

Here in Sweden me mostly have ASSA locks but also Alfa / GEGE / KABA locks aswell. a tiny percent of Medeco, Yale and other more "american" locks.

Love the site and hope i have access to the "restricted threads" soon

Hello lockpickers!

Just thought I'd introduce myself. I'm a 23year old design engineer from Norfolk, England.

My other hobbies include writing novels, short stories and poetry; playing several instruments and reading literature and philosophy.

I ordered the Southord C1500 15 piece pick set from lockpickshop.com around a week ago and I'm itching to get started.
