Another question on locksmith courses.....

Postby patrick101 » 4 Mar 2008 16:23

Hi

I was really just posting to ask a question (which i am sure has been asked thousands of times before so sorry of my ignorance) about FB type "mail" locksmith courses.

I have been interested in locks, lockpicking, and other skills associated with locksmithing for quite some time now, but i feel that the information on the internet and on this site, (although a fantastic resource) is just too fragmented. I feel i would really benefit from doing a course which was structured, and explained things clearly and in a concise way.

I am not however looking to become a professional locksmith, I would simply like to use the course to gain a good grounding in the field for more of a hobby. With this in mind I don't really want a course on just the "running your business" side of things, but i realise there will probably be an element of this in all the courses.

Also, living in the UK i'm not sure if FB would be 100% suitable, with the different types of locks here etc....

Anyway yeah, sorry about the essay:P If anyone has any suggestions it would be fantastic to here what you have to say.

Thanks in advance,
Patrick.

dont pay for any courses patrick , everything you need to know is on here it just takes some time to go through.
start with all the stickies, one at a time, say one per day or one per week. work your way through all of these and you will know more than any of thses courses will teach you.belive me i have been locksmithing 12 years and i am still learning things off this site.

Foley-Belsaw will teach you alot of basics that age knowledge you need to be a locksmith. All of the knowledge is here as well, but like you said it's not as easy to find a specific thing. If you take the foley course you will leanr alot of things you did not know you NEEDED to know. I have no complaints about it. For me it was well worth the money. For you in Scottland it may not be the best thing. You have different types of locks.

Now on a little side note, my best friend is a descendant of the man who betrayed William Wallace. 8)
