Utah Lockpickers Meeting - Friday March 7th 5PM-8PM
We're going to meet at the ZCMI Food Court in Salt Lake City. The food court is still there, they're just beating the hell out of the mall. We'll be meeting on the west side.
This is normally the night of 2600 Meetings / DC801 so this time works out. There'll be people there who've never touched a lock pick before so if you haven't either then you're welcome to come play. And if you have some knowledge, come drop it.
I'll be bringing some padlocks, picks, and a pikstation for people to play with/learn on. If you've got some stuff please bring it along.

Sounds good, I broke my arm, so we'll see if I can work some left hand magic. I'm sure I can ;)

MBI:
Didn't see your post man, my bad.
ShanePicklefish:
It took me a sec, I was like "Why would we want to...LULZ!"
dougfarre:
What are these donations you speak of? I ended up buying a few new locks and a cutaway and whatnot so I can show some of the guys new to picking how it all works. I also pulled pins from a bunch of Kwikset cylinders so they go from 1-pin to 5-pin. We'll see how it goes.
Kodierer:
If you can pick a lock with your feet I'll buy you dinner.

We had a good meeting today. There were 21 people in all that showed up, and though many had never picked a lock before, I think MBI and I explained enough that anyone who tried to pick a lock, was successful at picking a lock tonight.
There were plenty of different types of locks and picks that people were able to sample the different varieties and see which picks they liked the most.
MBI had a few extra pick sets and locks with him so he unloaded them at his cost, which was awesome. We have infected many others, and that can only be good.
We're going to be doing it again, the first Friday of next month; April 4th at 5PM. So if you didn't make it this time, go ahead and get out next month, it was good times.

Yeah, Grifter definitely knows how to draw a crowd! Great turnout and everyone seemed to have fun. Technically it was a 2600 meeting (hacker) but over in my corner it seemed like just about all the conversation was about lockpicking.
I had a small pile of cable locks that I got for free so I handed those out to anyone who wanted one. Grifter had a nice lockpicking station set up and he and I lent out picks and tension wrenches to anyone who wanted to give it a shot, which turned out to be just about everyone. We ended up a bit short on wrenches so we had to make some up really quick out of a wiper insert I had in the bottom of my lock case.
In the end, five people caught the bug bad enough that they wanted their own picksets. The three gals in attendance each received a free lockpicking book cause I figured we need more ladies in the sport! Thanks again Grifter for setting this up and I'll see you at the meeting next month.

The conversation was predominantly lock related, but even those talking about crypto, firewalls, or the latest exploits tended to have a lock in their hands while they were chatting.
I had forgotten earlier about your recruitment of the ladies. Good show man, good show.
