Deadbolts and doorlocks are my enemy...

For some reason, I just cant pick any lock on a door. I have tried 3 so far.

The thing is, is that i can only unlock them upside-down. Whenever i do it right side up (as if it were installed on a door) the pins just dont stay up.

Is it a tension problem? Too soft? Too hard? Please help.

First off, please do not pick locks that are in use. If you do not know what you are doing you will damage them. To answer your question if the pins will not stay "up" you may not be using enough tension.

I know, I have adopted this rule myself

My dad has done a bit of house work lately, so he had a deadbolt and handle that he uninstalled from an old door, and a brand new deadbolt that had not been opened yet.

To reply to your answer; thank you. I will have to try things out.
