This is for Dudley Combination Lock.
It's doable in minutes, but requires trial and error.
Despite the 60 combination numbers on the face of the lock, there are only 10 possible combination numbers, not 60. They lied. It's built that way so clumsy fingers can still open the lock even when numbers don't match exactly. We take advantage of this.
To find the 10 possible combination numbers:
-------------------------------------------------------------
start with 0, pull hard on shackle and keep pulling on it, spin to left most and record number, spin to right most and record number. There should be a difference of 3 between the left number and the right number (this is the error margin for the clumsy fingers). Example, 59 - 2 is the first pair.
Do the same to find the next pair. Next pair is likely to start at the right most number from previous pair plus three. Example, 2 + 3 = 5, this pair is 5 - 8. Next pair is 11 - 14. Next pair is 17 - 20 and so on.
Once you find all 10 pairs of numbers, use the left most number from each pair and add 2 to it. That is the combination number we will use from this pair. Example, in pair 59 - 2, we add 2 to 59 = 1, that's the first combination number. We do the same for each pair.
We now have 1, 7, 13, 19, 25, 31, 37, 43, 49 and 55. These 10 numbers are our 10 possible combinations numbers. Notice how they are 6 units apart from each other?
Number of possible combination:
--------------------------------------
Each Dudley combo lock requires three sets of numbers to open. If you do the math, the maximum possibility is 10 x 10 x 10 = 1000. However, if you put in the right numbers for the first two set, we can always find the last number by going through all 10 possible numbers one after another and pull on the shackle until it opens, so we really only have 10 x 10 = 100 possibilities.
Now it is a matter of trying out all 100 possible combinations to find the combo. You'll likely have luck half way through your trial. I was able to open mine in 12 minutes.
Good luck to you all.
