I remember the first one i ever picked......It's always a good feeling, especially using tools you made yourself

My first lock opened in about 3 seconds, but it turned out later all the pins were in a straight line, so it wasnt exactly difficult
Second one opened in about 15 seconds, but i think the lock mightve been broken.

I like the locks that open quickly, gives you a sense of sattisfaction

my first picked was the door to my room. My room is never locked so the lock is basically dead weight. Of course like everyone else I was just sort of poking around, but magic happens when no security pins are there ;)

the feeling when you get your firs tlock with security pins is off the charts. You feel elite like the world is your oyster :P. My firs tlock with security pins was an American 5100 which I now know is pretty daunting for someones first venture into security pins, but now I can open it in 15 seconds :D.

First lock I picked was when I was with my friend at the gym. There's tonnes of old abandoned lockers that still have locks on them, so we practice on them and take some of the ones, we manage to pick, home with us.
I'd never picked a lock before, had minimal knowledge of how to pick a lock, and then the tension wrench started turning and *click* the lock came off. It was a huge accomplishment.

I can now relate, it's a pretty good feeling...

I sat down last night with my Southord lock pick, a 3 pin practise lock, and a copy of the MIT guide to lockpicking.

Visually, there's not a great deal of info, and if you're a little lax on terminology, it can seem a bit over whelming, however after I selected a comfortable pick, and a torque wrench, I sat down and started playing.

Played with the first pin, and got it locked into place, the barrel turned slightly, slid along to the second and found that was the 'binding' pin...

I was looking down the keyway to see what was happening...could see pin 1, then darkness... then I thought to myself, maybe I shouldnt be looking at all. I slid the pick down to the end of the keyway, and lightly dragged back, click, slight turn, then as I was watching TV...click...FULL TURN  .

Tried it again, and yes got it for the second time, after a few minutes.

Tried it a third time, and cramped up in my hand

I feel as though my technique involves a little bit more raking, as opposed to SPP, but i'm working on that

I'm addicted, and thats my story.

just got my first lock today...i have been reading up for a good week now and i placed an order for a few picks, i found them waiting for me when i got home...ran upstairs and got my practice lock and got to work...i first tried out a rake and it popped open in a matter of seconds!!( all luck of course)...then i tried SPP and it took a good 15 min. to get it open, i later moved onto a snake and with a bit more practice im getting it in a min. or two...granted its a cheaper lock but its decent practice...

yesterday i got interested in lock picking (suddenly). then i searched web. seen some videos. read the tutorials. then today i successfully "lock-picked" my two table drawer locks. without key!

first drawer lock was very easy i just used nail-clipper's nail-file (nail sharper?) part.
for 2nd drawer it did not work, so i made a simple pick with a small screwdriver and used that (no tensioner) and voila!

i'm in :)

The first lock I picked, which happened only a few days ago was one of those tiny luggage pad locks that you put on the zippers. Even though It was probably one of the easiest locks to pick, it still felt amazing. I couldn't stop smiling for a good half hour. Congrats to everyone on your success!

first lock I picked was a normal master lock padlock. Probably took me about 10 minutes the first time, a friend is into lockpicking and he got me a small set of HPC picks. I'd tried before with improvised tools, but I think I'd rather pay the 1.50$ for a good commercial pick if I have the choice. Now I can open said padlock in 2-5 seconds almost every time.

HAH! Picked my first!

The tools (wire from a hair brush):

The lock (looks like it's about 15 years old):

Like I said, it was obviously an old lock, tons of play in the cylinder and pins. Got it right on the tenth try through sheer luck, blind raking. Then I started getting the feel of it, one pin from another, and eventually I started getting it right on the first try. :-)

Felt great, but I worry I started out too easy. A brand new lock will probably be much more challenging, might not be able to get by with homemade tools...

Time to buy some real picks

The feeling of it turning doesn't get any less special, trust me.
But seeing a hundred exclamation, marks does.

Picked my first lock yesterday, it's souch an amazing feeling when they turn open!!
The lock i picked was a safety box (my littlebrothers) He had lost the key and he was really sad (he sure has got a lot of money in there .
Anyway, I made an pick of a paperclip, and a wrench of the metal piece on a pencil.
I put the wrench in, twisted and turned for about 5 seconds, and voila! I opened it!!!
GOD! to you get a kick of that? :!:
Then later on i found out that it had three pins and no safety pin, but anyways, im still proud of it!!!

Going to make my first set of picks and wrenches with my friend this weekend, we are going to have fun!

Keep up that good work!!
