Yep, i'm a newbie here too. I repair a lot of motorcycles and scooters and am forever having to get new keys cut for spares, also sometimes replacing lock cylinders in the seat, topcase/luggage trunks etc. and I'm currently looking for a deluxe and modern key cutting machine as well as re-keying supplies. So, I figured what better way to learn about the legit purposes for locks and hopefully do a lot of this myself later so I don't have to keep paying those professionals. PLUS, maybe do a bit of freelance cutting on the side, my local Walmarts charge 2 bucks per key, local Canadian Tires etc., charge 4 plus!!! Locksmith shops have varying prices. I'm in Canada and in colder months our locks are pretty stressed and can't go a season without some sort of attention so I guess this is the place to learn the trade, looks like a cool place.....

HI! I Just got interested in picking a few days ago, I bought 3 cheap padlocks to practice on before I browsed through the forums and found suggestions for practice locks. My mom had a Dyno Kwick pick for some reason so thats what I've been using. I haven't been able to crack any of the locks so far, but I know the mechanics of it. I'm hoping when I get the kwickset deadbolt I ordered that will help me out.

Hi everyone at LP101, my name's Patrick and I've gotten into (obsessed) with lockpicking for the past couple weeks, using a few homemade tools, (hope to share pics soon) have picked doors, deadbolts and a simple little security box, but am working on picking a tubular lock that's on my personal safe, no luck so far, but am still gaining knowledge. I haven't had an interest in buying tools but have spent alot of time making my own tools, as unappealing as they look, it's been quite satisfying. Thanks for the info that this site has shared and I look forward to learning much more. :)
