ratyoke's picks

When it comes down to it there is nothing better than manual tools for your Lock pick Set, whether they be retail, homebrew, macgyver style. DIY'ers look here.

That is a good bit of machining! I like the idea of them being "Watermelon Picks", sort of a good name for them.

Don't worry about the time they took. Speed comes with making more of them. All protoypes take longer than normal, as apart from anything else, you usually want to make them with as much care as you can, so you naturally take more time and pay more attention to doing them.

There's also some quite serious Zen-like stuff about slowing down for the first time you make something and it actually being good for you as you take in more of the experience and learn the precise control necessary more throughly.

Recieved a bogota pair from ratyoke, with his long handles, wood this time, probably mahogany. lighter than aluminum, warm to touch, you cant know how important that is in minnesota today, its below 0 again.
they are beautiful, his polish makes me wish I had used powertools to polish mine, he used rouge, (if thats what you call the stainless version of the stuff.)

These are the picks Raimundo got. The wood is zircote, rivets are sterling silver. This is the first time I have used wood for pick handles.

To polish them I sand up to 2000 grit then use some kind of green polishing compound for steel. I don't know what it is, a friend gave it to me after I started making picks. Before that I had just been polishing with green rouge, which took a lot longer to get the same results.

Is it a premium for wood, Ratyoke? Or the same general price as Alu picks? Looks awesome man. Keep it up. 8)

It depends on what kind of wood you want and if you want any carving. Something like the top pick would be around the same price.
