Hello,
I've gotten a ton of information off of these forums that has really helped me out in getting started with picking so I was wondering if someone can help me with this. Sorry if it's been asked before but I'm having trouble putting my question succinctly enough for the search engines.
Alright, so I have this lock that I just managed to pick for the first time today. I didn't get a key with it, honestly I just found it lying on the ground. It's a pretty substantial lock for someone of my limited skill - an Almont Re-keyable padlock. In my excitement after first picking it, I completely forgot what I'd heard online about this lock. Apparently you need to turn the cylinder to unlock it and turn it again (in the other direction?) to re-lock it. I forgot to re-lock it while I was still able to freely turn the plug with my torque wrench.
Now the lock is stuck rotated 90 degrees clockwise. I can achieve some play with the plug, about 10 degrees in either direction. However, it doesn't appear or feel as though there are any pins to pick anymore. I've never picked a lock like this kind before so I'm a bit confused as to why I can't pick it to lock it again... probably because I don't really understand how the mechanism works in a lock like this. I'd really like to get it back to how it was originally since it was a lot of fun to pick the first time and I want to try again.
Any help?
