Which sidewinder keys duplicating machine?

Postby marginal » 14 Nov 2009 9:03

Hello everyone and thanks for the opportunity you are giving newbies like me to gather the so precious information :) ...
I am not sure this is the right forum and the right place to ask, given that this forum is about lock picking, but I'll try anyway.
So, I am starting a key duplication business and am interested mainly in duplicating sidewinder and dimple keys (after a 100$ price quote for a duplication of the key of my Volvo 850 GLT 1997, from the Volvo dealer where I live  ) ...
My most important question is, which would be the best price / quality key duplicating machine?
I can't spend like $5000 on such a machine though, and found these two on the web, the ESP 339C @ $459 (http://www.thekeystore.com/machines.htm) and the Matrix S @ $2 000 (http://www.discountkeymachines.com/show ... =48&cat=14).
So, are there other machines like that which need consideration?
Also, if you know a forum dedicated to key duplication, please share the knowledge, I don't want to keep on writing about key duplication here if that's not OK ...

Thank you all :) ...

This sucker, http://locksmithtools.com.au/3DPro.html

I heard the set up can be tricky and you'll probably have to call the manufactures tech support a few times. But once that's done with you can duplicate AND originate just about any car keys and even standard house/padlock keys.

He said not over 5000 $. Cool looking machine tho..
Looks like you can not tilt the vices on the esp 339c, so not angled cuts. Here in europe JMA´s Dakar competes with the Matrix.

You also need something like TRS5000 for your Volvo key.

It might be over your planned budget, but you can do a lot more with that machine than any other machine I can think off ..

Another option is of course getting a good duplicator like the Matrix and just use Space/Depth keys when you need to originate keys from scratch.

Although you'd have to buy all the S/D sets out there and some car keys like the Lexus I heard is difficult to do with this method and a little more time consuming but it can be done.
