dead bolt dead

greetings , ive been a locksport hobbyist for about a year, recenly ive come accross a deadbolt lock, in which the cylinder turns ,but the deadbolt dosent move? can anyone shed some light on this ( i have the key for this lock, and it works)

depending on the brand, I suggest that the tailpiece is either broken or disconnected.

Yup, the tailpiece has become seperated from the plug. It was probably forcibly removed from the door it came from.
