Well, I just started today... brand new, but figured it would be a good skill to have. I've only looked around this sight a little, but it looks awesome.

Another noob saying howdy, Very happy to have found this site, and look forward to pouring over all the information compiled here. Last night I picked a tumbler lock with some paper clips, after that I have about 250$ worth of picks headed my way as I was instantly hooked. Overkill I am sure, but I am very eager to learn everything about the tools of the trade and the methods used for them.
Thanks for having me,
JP

Overkill would be an understatement if you're only referring to pin-tumbler picks :D

JP[/quote] lol I did the exact same thing at first. ordered everything that I saw but after I played with them for a while and honed my skills, I couldve kicked myself for all the tools I had that I could use for other locks. Learning I didnt have to have a special tool for every single lock I did was an eye opener but it was a lesson well learned. :)

Gozzo, here from Australia, have been silently trawling the forums for about two years, been studying lock mechanism's for years but got my first set of pick's about 3 mths ago, but just got a decent set from south ord. Great site, love the info. Look forward to learning together. Gozzo

Not all hand picks :)
The majority of the purchase was a full set of automotive slim jims, wedges, etc. The amount of times I have had to use a coat hanger or (eek) AAA is frustrating. I hope to never have to call them again and look forward to helping fellow absent minded door lockers at the slopes. (you wouldn't believe how many skiers lock their keys in the car after skiing!)
UPS man can't come soon enough! Lots of locks to buy soon after!

Hello, im new to the skilll, but have been really interested in learning how to do this simply because it's something that is challenging. Probably start looking through some tutorials etc within the next few weeks, as a side note question what is the hardest lock to pick (everyone needs a goal! :d ).
Thank you for reading, T

Hey cats, I stumbled across the hobby of lockpicking somehow (probably relating to urbex or something), and I'm keen to get involved. Security forms a part of my duties at work, so I have an interest in understanding (and plugging) security holes and vulnerabilities, plus I just like understanding the world around me...
I have recently failed hard while attempting to make a set of tools from hacksaw blades, so I'm thinking I'll buy some tools then make some once I have a better idea how they should look and work :)

Been looking through the forums here for several months and loving it. The quantity of information on this site is ridiculous. I feel like I have learned a lot but every time I learn something new I see that there are several OTHER things I have to learn about! Currently I can pick basic Kwiksets, some no.1 Master padlocks, random little "nothing" locks and am working on a Schlage. I've been moving the pins around on the Kwikset to work on my spp. Digital_blue's guide ( viewtopic.php?f=3&t=10677) has been very helpful. I am working on giving back as well. I created this little tutorial viewtopic.php?f=4&t=47268 and am working on a credit card pick set which I am VERY excited about. So, that's a little about me and my new hobby. Thanks everyone for contributing your knowledge. jondoe
