I made my own board out of 5/8" MDF. It is 24"wide, by 18"deep. I have a " door pull handle " mounted in the center of the board, behind the motor. This makes my machine portable. And because it is mobile, I also added rubber feet to the bottom of the board, this will prevent any scratches on any customer's counter-top.

If anyone is interrested in a photo of it, let me know. Will just take a little while to snap it w/the digital camera, and upload it to my webspace.

I did something similar, only my board is 2 1/2'x 1 1/2' and i cut the handle in the board, and I used felt for the bottom instead of rubber things, it works pretty well.

differences between editions

Postby lostbaka » 3 Sep 2004 14:51

I just got a copy of the 1984 Foley Belsaw course. Does anyone know the differences between 1984 and the current one?

Thanks

I am sure many things have changed since 1984. But, I am sure the manual still says " CONFIDENTIAL " on the front of it.

Please make sure no one else has access to it.

If you pursue this as a hobby/carreer, there is very valuable information in it. Read, and practice all you can. Then read, and practice again.

84? Wow...Where do you start with the number of changes since the n..hehehe..ah well...i'ts a good practice to learn about older stuff as well 'cause you never know what you're going to run across out in the field. Definitely read through and absorb as much as you can with the understanding of the dated information. I would highly suggest taking a modern course after you've done that and compare the two.

I just ordered the FB course today! (yay!)

I seriously looking forward to it. Can't wait!

Gotta say thanks to the forum, this place has taught me so much. I've no idea what I'd be doing now if I hadn't found this place.

I sent in 6-10 a while back and I'm waiting for 11-15. While I'm waiting, I've been trying to impression some locks. When I start, I sand the blank to a matt finish and I can see all the marks beautifully, but after filing the surface is too rough. So, I'd like to get a proper file. I've read the posts here on impressioning and I've picked out what I'd like to order. Before I spend $40 on a file I wanted to ask if FB will send a decent file with the cylinder key impressioning lesson or if I'm better off buying a good one now.

thanks!

They do send you a file, but it is not a very decent one. Get's the job done, but it by no means qualifies as a good file.
