the pictures server is full so you have to link to your own server or hosts..

places like photobucket are good, I use freeservers.com, there are others.

lets say your pic is at http://photobucket.com/tamworthsprofile/picoflock.jpg

you would post it here by putting [img]and[/img] tags around it or a [url]and a[/url] tag around it. like this:

[img]photobucket.com/tamworthsprofile/picoflock.jpg[/img]
make sure to have the http:// in the URL, I took it out so you could see inside the img tags.

welcome and give it a try.

We get posts like this a lot, ie. "how do I pick [insert exact make and model of lock here]". It's funny, but annoying at the same time. Imagine walking into a room full of poker players, I'm talking guys from the pro circuit here, and asking them how to win at poker cos you're going to a game tonight. That's pretty much what you just did there, so I'm sure you can appreciate that you're not gonna get any help.

If you're not sure why that is, it's because people who sign up to ask about "this one lock" are almost always people with no interest in the mechanics of the lock - they simply want a walkthrough of how to pick a certain one so they can save themselves some money (or worse, get into something they're not supposed to). Not that you're up to no good or anything, we just don't have time for people who clearly can't be bothered to take any time to research a little for themselves.

Regardless of anything else, nobody here can tell you how to pick that type of mechanism anyway because they're advanced material. I'm not sure why since they're actually very simple to pick compared to abloy or abus plus... but rules are rules, and since the one you're looking at just happens to be designed for securing car clamps (and it's your first post), then most people would be very hesitant to help you.

If you actually are interested in picking, stick around and enjoy the forums... you'll learn how to pick that type in a little while if you're clever enough. ;)

solomon pretty much hit it on the head there.
we're not trying to mean though. if you could post a pic of the lock not secured to anything i'm sure some one will give you some pointers on how to pick it. if not, we don't pick locks in use (this is a hobby).

You cant pick that kind of lock with a regular pick set. It's called a disc-detainer mechanism, you need a special decoder tool and we don't discuss those in the open forum.

Have a good day,
Squelchtone

Ps. please don't start multiple posts for the same question.

I didn't say you were up to no good, I was pointing out how most people see this kind of question in someones first post. Unfortunately even though you do own the lock, that type of mechanism is still advanced material... I can explain the mechanism and how to pick it in great detail, but it's restricted to the advanced section so you're out of luck. I was told the same thing when I asked about them ages ago, so I know how you feel... I figured it out though, so with a little time and research I'm sure you'll manage.

That all depends though; do you have any picking experience? If not, I strongly suggest you get the hang of pin tumbler locks first so you fully understand the principles of binding and pin stages first. Then you can apply that knowledge to this mechanism and figure it out for yourself. The same theories apply to every locking mechanism, this one included... so if you can pick a pin tumbler lock, you can pick a disc detainer aswell. You just need to look at how it works.

You might start with a google search on disc-detainer. Lots of info available such as:

http://www.lockwiki.com/index.php/Disc_detainer

http://wn.com/Disc_detainer_pick_3D_animation

The rules here restrict what help you can get on learning how to manipulate a lock with that type of mechanism. Given the breadth of other sources for such info, such rules don't really restrict individuals who seek such info, but do protect this site. Members understand and respect the need for such rules and protection.
It's a good day when I learn something new.
