Hello everybody.

I'm new to the site and i like it so far.
I'm a Locksmith in Colorado springs and have been picking for about four years.
Recently i've aided Ingersoll Rand in testing the Pick times on there new batch of
Locks and had a great time figuring out new ways to pick them.
I've been a locksmith for 3 years and i enjoy it to death, something new and exciting every day.

Hi I am new to this site and new to the industry. I have recently attended a course in auto locksmithing and am on the verge of starting up my own business. However, i am wary of various discussions which seem to indicate that the costs are enormous and the chance of making your money back with interest are slim. I am really looking for a bit of guidance as to whether to invest in this business, and if so what is recommended as essential tools and equipment needed to be equipped to handle most automotive call outs? This seems to be a very helpful and unbiased site, and i look forward to hearing some of your insiteful opinions. Thanks!

I've been lurking for awhile now, figured I'd finally introduce myself. I'm trying to have a more constructive hobby than gaming as much and locksport seems like fun! A basic set from lockpickshop is on the way and now I'm looking around for locks.

Looking forward to learning more from everyone and thanks for everything I've seen already!

Hi all

The wonders of the internet eh! I came across this site whilst researching for better ways to gain entry into properties than the current master key I currently use (sledgehammer!) I've decided to dedicate a fair bit of time to this subject and have opted for a lockpick gun and a basic set of picks as my first purchase, for lockouts we currently bodge our way in using a thin piece of plastic between the door and frame (I can almost see you squirm!) but heres to a new education!

Just joined and I am really intrigued by the skill of lock picking. I am thinking of buying this:
http://www.gadgetsdirect.com.au/index.p ... s_id=15797

Any thoughts on the website and the set for a beginner?

I am new to lock picking and this site. I look forward to learning different types of locks. I also hope to find some people in my area that are interested in starting a local TOOL chapter.

New to lockpicking as of a few days ago, but have managed to make a pick out of a cheap hacksaw blade and a tension wrench out of a paperclip. The only locks I can pick is my (now defunct) cutaway kwikset deadbolt (was around 10 seconds not looking) and my intact kwikset doorknob (around 1 minute). I ordered a 14 piece set and it should be here in a few days, though. I hope to get active on this forum :)

well after trolling the site and trying to work out where to start (lots of helpful stuff, thanks people)
i finally ordered a set of southord picks, from the sponsor www.lockpickshop.com. 14 days later, it's xmas eve, and they turn up

so i'm fiddling around with a cheap screen door lock thingy i got from ebay, before i get around to pulling apart a lock and having a single pin to play with, and i manage to pick it. happy days :-)

yes beginners luck i know, but that was fun :-)

thankyou all the very helpful posters with the beginners stuff i'm about to start on, and have a merry xmas

regards
