Good day! Names Joey, have been a hobbyist picking for a couple of years. Recently became once again heavily involved with the great puzzles that locks provide. Hope to learn and make some great acquaintances. Enjoy!

HI - never done this before but frantic so am trying several sites. I have a Baldwin Acord Smart Key door knob (lock) just new. Paper instructions that came with the box dropped in toilet. Now I am locked out of the bathroom with no instructions on how to open the door and I'm afaid I will break something if I don't do it right. What do you do with the flat metal piece in the small dot next to where the key goes in?? Can I just use the key or do I have to use both at the same time. Where can I find instructions? I have searched the internet with no luck :( Thank you fior any help

Thanks for all the wealth of information you offer on this site. I am still relatively new to the hobby of lock picking, but enjoy the challenge. I will try to post pics/list of picked locks soon. Thanks again for a wonderful site.

Im Dakota, ive been picking locks sence the 3rd grade,.. im 29 so i guess you can say i had an early interest.... To much watching MacGyver an then just wanting to see if it really works...lol...anyways... its always intrigued me how people rely on something not so dependable to keep things safe... Ive had my fair share of those who shun me because of my skill (until of-course their locked outa the house or car) but i look more at it as a chance to educate the un educated for people fear what they dont understand... I like the challenge of getting thru something someone has said is full proof.... the looks on a persons face when i use their own car antenna to pop open their car doors leaves me laughing every time.... i really would like to get it out their that just because you can pick a lock doesnt mean your a criminal or house burglar... shit cops carry guns ...dont mean their a murderer .....

Hello all, New member here, My name is Tony I live just North of Orlando Florida and am originally from Long Island New york, 45 years old. I like picking locks just for the fun of it, I am not a professional by no means. I work for the local water dept as a foreman. Some of my hobbies include working on my Nissan Pathfinder and Sentra, basically I work on any Nissan's as they are my favorite. I collect knives and some classic boomboxes and prefer AIWA, I have an AIWA boombox that I bought brand new back in 1981 that still works perfectly. I joined here to learn more about lock picking but I do have a particular problem I am trying to figure out at this time, I hope someone can assist me with my problem so I can finish my current project.
Look forward to talking and discussing things with you all.

Good Afternoon Guys, I'm new around here, and thought I'd introduce myself. About a month ago I was digging through my desk and found a MasterLock #3. I do tech support for a living, and spend many hours in front of this computer bored and on the net for amusement. So, I started trying to pick the lock with paperclips. Did a google on it, found a few youtube videos, started watching them. The only pick I had ever used was a dynokwik pick that a buddy of mine loaned me when I managed to lock my keys in the house. With my new found interested and a million you tube videos later, I made a snake rake and a wave rake out of hacksaw blades and started opening every lock in the house. A couple days later I ordered a South Ord set from lockpicks.com. Received my first set of tools on May 2nd, joined this site on May 5th, downloaded templates on May 6th, and made a complete set out of hacksaw blades on 7th. That's right I'm hooked and officially driving my wife crazy. I've spent the entire month reading, making tools and of course practicing opening all my locks and adding to my padlock collection. I guess I had always been into to puzzles and picking is just solving a metal puzzle. I couldn't believe the grin or the satisfaction of feeling that last "click" right before the plug rotates. I've found quite a few of you on youtube, and I hope that one day I'll be half that good. I look forward to meeting and talking to all of you.

Hi there! My name is Edward but you can call me Ed. I'm relatively new to lock picking and I'm surprised that there's a community with people like me who are into lock picking. I look forward to my stay here and I'm hoping to learn a lot. Hopefully, I'll be able to contribute as well!

HI!! Brand new here and to lock picking. I have always been interested in this skill but never got around to getting a kit or actually studying the craft, its a different story now. I have recently purchased a KLOM set (not the best, but a great price) and I am ready to start practicing. I have read a lot and watched some videos but nothing compares to advice from people that are skilled. Aside from getting the feel of actually picking locks my biggest question right now is "what are all of these things in my set?" I can identify several hooks and rakes and such but there also all of these double ended things. Well, it looks as though I have come to the right place to start my education. Thanks in advance for any and all information in the future, I am sure I will have lots of questions!
PS- I am not really all that crazy (LewNi) I just happened to be graced with the right name configuration!

G'day. I live in Brisbane, Australia and work as a security officer. I found the site while searching for details on the security of maglocks. A short amount of reading later I joined up after seeing this great community. I just ordered a lock pick set and plan to practice as a hobby, and perhaps gain some knowledge from this forum that may help with my work and who knows, maybe even one day become a security consultant if I can learn enough. Thanks for the great site :)
Ellohahe fellow enthusiast, Sooo, what shall I say. I'm not new at all but I've been gone for over 1,5 now. I've not stop lock picking in the meanwhile but I serve in the army and I've been on active duty for most of the time. However it seems I will get some more free time on my hands in the coming months and decided to pick this up where I left. For the people who don't really remember me (I'm guessing not many will XD). In the time I joined LP 101 I've posted some video's on Youtube showing some simple locks being picked, for those interested. Trigger lock http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Xvi8N-KyYMTri Circle http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VFvfoAa12sITri Circle with improvised picks http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9xPo8lb5DDwCredit card review http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oQFT_JLWSq8I've also made some lock picks myself from street sweeper bristles, I suggest everyone try it, very interesting and educational experience, to see what works and what doesn't and develop your own personal taste for the tools. So, I'm glad I'm back and I'm looking forward to diving into some deep discussions with my old buddy's again :)
Forget to say what kit I have atm. 32 peice Klom Navigator set. 12 Pick Southord set 6 custom made picks Eagle downwards pickgun about 50 or 60 locks, ranging from European to American, from padlock to cylinder, from easy to insanely hard.

Hi,
I stubbled across this site more by chance than anything else but after searching through a number of posts and seeing the quality of the advice/info provided by members, I decided to register.
I am relatively new to lock picking. I was taught the basics a few years ago by a friend but those skills have since diminished through lack of practice and I am keen to get them back as I am now getting bored with the usual array of puzzles people keep giving me as gifts (after all what better puzzle is there than a lock?).
I own a 22-piece set of SouthOrd picks but havent really started to build my collection of locks yet (currently own 4 - 5 practice locks).

hey all! im new lockpicking and got hooked by the challenge of trying to open locks.. but basically all i've used are improvised tools (paper clip, hair pin, etc..) which is very frustrating (and actually kinda helps me pass the time.. hehehe..) right now im looking at a certain lock and key.. thing is i dont know what its called. here it is: http://www.manufacturer.com/product/i79 ... +Keys.htmloh and im from the philippines. which makes buying lock pick tools difficult(they dont sell em in the local stores in my area) im a 27 yr old IT Guy who on some occassionshave alot of time(specially when im just monitoring servers.. hehehe) Thanks!
