Picking individual pins

My pick(made with hacksaw and grinder) doesn't allow me to pick individual pins. It gets in the way of other pins. Is this normal?
Here is what I mean.

you need to round it out more...like the one in the diagram. You should produce two...a shallow one ( as in pic ) and a deeper, for when you need a higher lift.

You can try thinning out that shaft some so it's not quite so tall in the key way. If you do that you should be fine for SPP.

+1, basically you hook should be so "shallow" that that you can inert it into the lock WITHOUT touching any of the pins. that if you want to set one you can lift up your pick under that specific one.

SO, your pick should be like Number 2 on the picture, free to move within the lock without touching any of the pins. Than if you want to set a pin you move it to position one and that way you touch ONLY that pin
