Abus 82/90 Padlock problems.

Hi Everyone,

I'm new here and this is my first post, I try to educate my self on the forums all
the time and thanks for all of the information so far it has been very useful.

I have been lock picking for a week almost now after purchasing a new lock
picking set (Southord C2010) and having alot of fun learning about locks.

Now for the real question, the mentioned lock is driving me up the wall, I've been
trying to pick it for two days straight and having no luck at all. Can someone please
give me some advice on how I could tackle this lock? all of the videos I see online
don't really explain it, they just pick it in seconds and bob is your uncle.

That lock has pins inside that are shaped like little empty bobbins or spool of thread. That T shape of the pins makes them wobble and tip over and get stuck when you are picking. They're meant to stop picking attempts, but if you press on your tension wrench very gently while picking, you should be able to push them up without them falling over and blocking the lock from turning.

Look up "spool pins" and "security pins" Another type is a mushroom pin shaped like a little atomic bomb, but yours are just spool pins, 5 of them if I'm not mistaken.

There are some good animations on youtube showing how they work to stop picking and what you can do to feel them out and to over come them.

an S rake usually works very well on ABUS padlocks, along with a light touch on the wrench. insert rake all the way, pull out quickly while adding a little bit of force on the tension wrench. keep repeating until lock opens.

I tried contacting Netherlands TOOOL twice now but no response. I also might upload a video
of what I'm doing to see what it might be.

Don't lose hope. If you're a beginner, that lock is not a beginner lock, it will take you time to become better. Keep practicing.
