Brinks Marine Max Security Look Cut Away Attempt

This is my first cut out, it's not great but it's a start… So if you ever wanted to know what the pins look like inside this lock, this post is for you.

Reason: Changed Cut Out to Cut Away. Easier for others to find it while Searching.

Thanks! How difficult was this for you to pick? I picked one of these up at Walmart, went to my car with it, and proceeded to break a new Bogota trying to rake it. That, of course, forced me to actually take a look at the keyway and I realized that slimline picks would probably do the trick. I will be taking another stab at it in a couple of days. What did you use to pick it?

What kind of mill / end mill did you use? =)

Looks good for for a first time Cut-Away,

I had to use my Southord Slim line short hook, this lock took me about 10 mins because the 5th pin is high and the 4th pin is low and with the short hook I kept hitting the 4th pin and oversetting it. I do have another one and it took me about 5 mins the first time but now I can get it in less than 1 min on good days.

The mill is an old Bridgeport series 1 that is completely worn out. All 3 axis have .010” play. The bit I used was an 3/8” center cutter.

My slimline picks from Peterson just arrived...took me about three minutes to pick my Brinks Marine padlock. Thanks for the info and illustrations.

How slim are the Slimline picks? I have this lock, and it's been giving me a hard time. My 'thin' picks are .020". That 'seems' thin enough to me, but I could probably find some .015" material laying around somewhere...

...I'm probably just putting too much tension on it.
