Mushroom pins

Postby minifhncc » 29 Mar 2012 5:48

Hi all,

I'm looking to get some mushroom top pins for some normal C4/Lockwood cylinders (the standard here for Australia).

I've found the Abus 72/40 mushroom pins that I could buy (presumably they're made for the Abus 72/40 series padlocks). But I've been told that these would be too small for Lockwood cylinders.

Could someone please advise if they would work properly for Lockwood or not?

Thanks heaps

No they will not work. They are indeed smaller in diameter.

My normal reply is to make your own security pins if you only need a few. It is easy. See previous posts on this subject.

But, I would like to know, what diameter are the pins in the C4/Lockwood cylinders (the standard there in Australia)?
Nothing is foolproof to a talented fool. Wisdom is not just in determining how to do something, but also includes determining whether it should be done at all.

I'm not sure what the diameter is at the top of my head.

By the way, I was able to lab spools and they work well.
